The Art Center is supported under an agreement between the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. We thank the Tennessee General Assembly and the Tennessee Arts Commission for their support.

From basic techniques to hands-on experiences , we strive to stimulate creative thinking and encourage integration of the arts into every aspect of daily life.

The Art Center offers classes for all ages and levels of expertise. Some classes are offered on a seasonal basis or certain times of year for specific levels or ages. Our instructors are excellent, arts professionals, most with a wealth of experience in their chosen arts field.

Our classes include:
oil painting
watercolor
pastels
drawing
silversmithing
pewter casting
hypertufa
jewelry (including wire weaving, bead weaving, PMC Precious Metal Clay, dichroic glass)
ceramics such as hand built and/or wheel thrown pottery
papermaking
art history
collage
sculpture.

Summer is the time of year for most of our children's programs. Most of our regular program classes are designed for self-disciplined and reliant individuals (adults). Some classes welcome young (or younger) students in their regular classes. If you are interested in enrolling a young person in a class, call to receive information about the scope of the class and the appropriateness of their participation.

Call the Art Center for additional information, 865-482-1441, or to register for classes and workshops.

Have a dream class or workshop?

If you have an idea for, or would like to request a specific class or workshop that we do not currently offer, please let us hear from you. We are always looking for new ideas or new instructors that can be added to our schedule. To make your wishes known, just call the Art Center at 482-1441 and speak to Leah or the staff assistant on duty.

The Oak Ridge Art Center is open to the public seven days a week. Admission is free, but donations are very welcome.

Hours:
Tuesday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
