TN Creates

Hugh Bailey demo
The Annual Secret City Festival has fast become one of the major summer events in Tennessee, attended by 20,000 to 25,000. The two-day festival combines music, food, antique and unjuried crafts vendors (all outside in tents), plus World War II re-enactments, activities for children, and evening concerts.

By popular demand, the Festival added a juried inside show several years ago sponsored by the Oak Ridge Art Center, "Tennessee Creates." Truly a juried fair, participation is dependent on acceptance of work by the jury committee from the Oak Ridge Art Center. All work submitted to jurors and for sale must be original. Jurying sessions will be held as needed from first reception of images until spaces are filled, so apply early. Inquire with the Art Center directly for a prospectus each year.

Gallery of Holiday Shops

Gallery of Holiday Shops and Bake Sale is our annual fine art and craft sale held in early November each year. This is the one time a year we close down the galleries for the weekend to bring this fabulous one day event to the community. This a a very limited, juried, handmade only event that showcases the best of what our local artisans have to offer. It is billed as the perfect way to start you holiday season each year. We generally have room for about 30 artisans to participate. Inquire with the Art Center directly for a prospectus for this event. Space fills up very quickly for this annual event so call early.

In addition to those exhibitions listed above, there will be several individual and group exhibitions in our Foyer Gallery. Anyone interested in participating in these foyer shows should contact the Oak Ridge Art Center to insure receipt of specific information regarding entry, 865-482-1441.

To submit a proposal for an individual or group exhibit ... The Art Center's exhibition committee usually meets once a year to select exhibitions. Please submit an artist(s) resume, artist's statement on the content of the proposed exhibit & 12-20 slides or photos of the work per artist. If you wish to have your slides/photos returned, please include return postage (self-addressed stamped envelope/mailer).
