Techniques of Watercolor Painting will provide a foundation for creating watercolor paintings using various styles and techniques, even incorporating pen and ink, gouache, or color pencils.
The object of the class is to encourage exploring the characteristics of water based color usage in both traditional and expressive forms. Color mixing guidelines will be reviewed and methods of layering color on paper, using both wet and dry techniques will be demonstrated. Drawing skills are not essential, but supportive techniques like transfer or tracing paper, grid lines and other techniques may be used to create forms and objects in a painting. Every class will provide an opportunity to create a unique water color painting.
